写真の量に惹かれて買いました。写真がたくさんあるわりには内容も濃くて満足です。寺社というと京都奈良と思いがちですが、身近なところにも名刹と呼ばれるお寺がたくさんあるということにあらためて気づかされました。ガイドブックより一段深くて、でもマニアックにならない説明で、何度も通った鎌倉のお寺でも「そういういわれがあったのか！」と気がつくこともたくさんありました。宗派にとらわれずお寺が好きな人、歴史が好きな人、建築が好きな人、そんな「普通の人」におすすめです。（私にとってはわかりやすかったのですが、専門家からみたら入門書なのだと思うので）

Rinnoji-Taiyuin-byo is a beautiful shrine in Nikko, Japan that is overshadowed by the popularity and artistry of the larger Tōshō-gū (日光東照宮) shrine. Only a few hundred meters away, many visitors are tired by the time they reach Taiyuin-byo, but I personally favor this shrine for its sculpture. While visiting in late December 2007, I saw most people hurry by, some of them taking only one picture and quickly moving on, chatting away. These videos are dedicated to those who later wished they would have spent more time admiring the sculpture instead of rushing through this last stop in Nikko.
